West Michigan effort to destroy PFAS in water gets a state grant

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy offered a grant to help the City of Grand Rapids continue it's work in attempting to destroy PFAS chemicals in wastewater.
The city commission voted to accept the $50,000 grant this week.
The grant would add to funding for a PFAS research project which started in March 2019. Grand Rapids contributed $300,000 to it.
Project background
The Grand Rapids Environmental Services Department partnered with Fraunhofer USA Center for Coatings and Diamond Technologies with Michigan State University (MSU-Fraunhofer).
Their goal was to develop technology that destroys PFAS chemicals in wastewater.
