The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission is breaking ground on a facility that will be used to convert solid waste into nutrient-rich organic material.

The $262 million innovative Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility in Accokeek will be WSSC’s largest and most technically advanced initiative.

The solid waste will be used to produce Class A biosolids, a safe soil amendment to help gardens, forests, farms and lawns grow.
