water-enforcement

A forum for candid dialogue and information sharing among utility leaders and enforcement experts on new trends, challenges and opportunities associated with environmental regulation and enforcement.

Are we witnessing a sea change in EPA’s philosophy on environmental regulation and enforcement? What can be expected at the EPA regional level? What does a “return to Cooperative Federalism” mean for states? How will third party litigation change as a result? What does it all mean for public clean water agencies?  In our heavily-regulated sector, answers to these questions are critical, especially in a time of such uncertainty. Enforcement actions, whether pursued by federal/state regulators or third parties, present significant challenges for clean water agencies and the communities they serve.

The National Water Enforcement Workshop will address how EPA’s evolving attitude, agenda and priorities affect clean water agencies and what opportunities exist to shape a new direction with federal enforcement. By dissecting trends, realities, tools, negotiation tactics, and areas of evolving flexibility, this Workshop will equip clean water agencies with the most up-to-date information and resources to avoid and defend against enforcement actions.  Experts will share advice on how to effectively navigate the enforcement process and negotiate or renegotiate for solutions that best serve our communities and the environment.
