NACWA members are part of a dynamic communication network, focusing on emerging and evolving legislative and regulatory environmental initiatives, as well as legal and management developments. A variety of communication tools keep member agencies up to date on legislative, regulatory, legal and management initiatives.. These tools include:
- "Member Pipeline" — The site provides NACWA member s with a new way to access NACWA’s outreach and communication tools, track new legislative, legal and regulatory developments and stay informed of upcoming conferences and events. Each NACWA member has an unique login code and password to access the "Member Pipeline." This kind of direct access to the site allows members to maximize their use of Association information and their participation in national legislative and regulatory policy development. All Association communication tools are provided to members on the Web Site and via e-mail or hard copy via first-class mail.
- Regulatory, Legal and Legislative Alerts — provide members with timely information regarding the latest developments that affect the operation and management of wastewater treatment agencies. Monthly Regulatory and Legislative Updates fully summarize relevant Federal Register notices and the status of key environmental legislation currently before Congress.
- Each Friday, the NACWA Clean Water Current is transmitted to member agencies, providing a summary of the most important news of the week.
- Member Updates are released periodically to inform members about future events or recent developments of general interest.
- Clean Water Advocate is an informative monthly newsletter that provides a thorough overview of legislative, regulatory, and legal developments of interest to public wastewater agencies, and showcases the achievements of the Association and its membership.
- NACWA’s Government Relations Directory provides member agencies with the information and tools necessary to be effective advocates of both local and national clean water community issues before Congress. Key Congressional committees are profiled and communication strategies are outlined in this valuable publication.
- Conferences — NACWA’s technical conferences, policy forums and workshops offer the most up-to-date information about legislative and regulatory developments and provide attendees with significant opportunities to network with colleagues from across the country. The Association hosts both Winter (February) and Summer (July) Conferences, and May National Environmental Policy Forum & Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, and a special workshop for pretreatment coordinators and public agency attorneys in the Fall. Additional workshops are also offered. Speakers at NACWA conferences are drawn from Congress and the EPA, as well as the public and private sectors. All come ready to give in-depth presentations, willingly engage in discourse with the audience, and meet with NACWA’s committees.
- Targeted Action Fund — NACWA’s Targeted Action Fund serves as a ready resource to support critical Association initiatives and the special projects of its committees. This dedicated fund provides increased flexibility by facilitating timely response and maximizing the ability of member agencies to collectively conduct and complete initiatives identified as critical by the membership.
- Committees — The Association’s active committee structure invites member agency representatives to work collectively with other Association members to shape national environmental policy. NACWA’s committees develop the Association’s position on environmental policy, craft legislation and frequently work directly with EPA on the development and implementation of regulatory initiatives. Participation on NACWA’s technical committees - as they address issues ranging from financial management to biosolids management, from water quality to air quality - offers the unique and truly rewarding experience of being on the "cutting edge" of national environmental initiatives.
- National Office Staff — NACWA’s National Office staff works actively for Association members, as full-time advocates before Congress and the EPA. They effectively coordinate the activities of NACWA’s committees and conferences, and serve as an "on-call" resource to member agency leadership and their staff.
